My final thoughts on POKEMON

It's still cool...Macy parade floats to a december 2009 "Pokémon profile picture month" on thepopular social networking website Facebook started, with over 100,000 (by some estimates) Facebook users changing the image displayed on their profile webpages to that of a favorite Pokémon.

but what do you think???

Post below....

Pokemon Background & Controversy

Some background on Pokemon

Pokemon is the term coined in its inception in 1996 for poket monsters thanks to the great Japanese company Nintendo.... it is only second to Mario bros.. the flip cards battled it out anime was superhyped and toys books and other media came onto the scene as well as cartoons and movies ect... as of 2010 over two hundred million copies of the games different versions have been sold... The cards started in 1999 and are still in play...right now you can but 1000 booster packs on ebay, current bid of $12,800 US dollars (WHAT???) and for a Graded MINT '98 Pokemon No.1 Trainer Trophy Pikachu Cards 1998 Prize ULTRA RARE you'll be bidding for right around $5000 for a single card???? I also saw a giant size costume for Pikachu for around the same.... When I was younger in the club we heard club remixes of the voices and soundtracks for POKEMON....But you could also bid on toy pocket monsters for as little as $.01 plus shipping.....

Criticism for POKEMON ???

Deemed to be occultish and violent by christian organizations...
Concept of "Pokémon evolution" (although evolution in Pokémon is more akin to metamorphosis the ChildCare Action Project related it to the theory of evolution), which they claim goes against the Biblical creation account in Genesis but dont worry catholics cause the vatican says " that the Pokémon trading card game and video games are "full of inventive imagination" and have no "harmful moral side effects" [Silverman, Stephen M. Pokemon Gets Religion. People]
Manufacturing stopped the Japanese version of the "Koga's Ninja Trick" trading card because it depicted a manji, a traditionally Buddhist symbol with no negative connotations
Jewish civil rights group Anti-Defamation League complained because the symbol is the reverse of a swastika, which is considered offensive to Jewish people.
Saudi Arabia banned Pokémon games and cards, alleging that the franchise promoted Zionism by displaying the Star of David in the trading cards
Muslims said the same and said it promotes gambling...and accusations of promoting materialism
The promotion of materialism and capitalistic ideas as well as the mass production of plastic and paper wastes lands it on the enviromental hitlists and conservational organizations...
The medical community??? " 635 Japanese children were admitted to hospitals with epileptic seizures" because they watched an episode of Pokémon "Dennō Senshi Porygon", (most commonly translated "Electric Soldier Porygon", season 1, episode 38); Adding to censorships list causing proposed regulations against airing such things....(((censoring POKEMON???)))WOW....not to mention numerous economical outcries that were turning out generation of video gamed zombies and deteriorating our society with the flushing of morals and principles they claim are eating away several generations of our society....

Pokemon? How I got here?

My kids still play this ever popular game...from the cards to the dsi black and white game to action figures or pokewalkers...but i want to know is it still cool or is it just a select few...
